Muzarabani joins KKR in a significant move ahead of IPL 2026, giving Kolkata Knight Riders a strong addition to their pace attack. The Zimbabwe fast bowler has officially been signed by the franchise after reportedly leaving his Pakistan Super League (PSL) contract. His arrival is expected to add depth and pace to the KKR bowling unit as the team prepares for the upcoming IPL season.
Muzarabani Joins KKR Before IPL 2026 Season
Muzarabani joins KKR as a replacement in the squad following changes in the franchise’s fast bowling lineup. Earlier this year, Kolkata Knight Riders had signed Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman for INR 9.20 crore, but the contract was later terminated.
With that change, KKR moved quickly to secure the services of Blessing Muzarabani. The Zimbabwean pacer is scheduled to arrive in Kolkata on March 17 to link up with the team ahead of the tournament. Kolkata Knight Riders will begin their IPL 2026 campaign against Mumbai Indians on March 29 at the Wankhede Stadium.

Strong Performance in the T20 World Cup
Muzarabani joins KKR after delivering an impressive performance in the recent T20 World Cup. The tall fast bowler played a key role for Zimbabwe, helping his team reach the Super Eight stage of the tournament.
During the competition, he picked up 13 wickets in six matches. Only Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakravarthy recorded more wickets in the tournament, with both finishing on 14 wickets. Muzarabani’s consistency and ability to deliver breakthroughs made him one of the standout bowlers of the event.
A Tall and Experienced Fast Bowler
Muzarabani joins KKR as a bowler known for his height, pace, and bounce. Standing at 6 feet 8 inches, the Zimbabwe international has been a regular across formats for his national team since making his debut in 2017.
In T20 internationals, he has played 89 matches and taken 106 wickets with an economy rate of around 7.24. His height allows him to generate extra bounce, making him a difficult bowler for batters to handle, especially in shorter formats.

Experience Across Global T20 Leagues
Muzarabani joins KKR with extensive experience in franchise cricket around the world. Over the years, he has featured in several T20 competitions including the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), ILT20, Pakistan Super League (PSL), and England’s Vitality Blast.
This will be his second association with an IPL team. During IPL 2025, he briefly joined Royal Challengers Bengaluru as a temporary replacement player toward the end of the tournament.
Boost for KKR’s Fast Bowling Unit
Muzarabani joins KKR at a crucial time for the franchise. Another KKR fast bowler, Matheesha Pathirana, is currently undergoing rehabilitation after suffering an injury during the recently concluded T20 World Cup.
With Pathirana recovering, Muzarabani’s inclusion provides the team with a reliable pace option. His international experience and strong T20 record could prove valuable as KKR begins its IPL 2026 campaign.
